The majority of the German population in Turkey lives in Antalya, and a significant portion of it resides in Alanya.
Near 7.000 Germans live in Alanya, and the number of those who have retired and settled there is quite high. The vast majority of Germans who have turned Alanya into their second homeland are those who come for a holiday and settle there. The people of Alanya call the Germans who have settled in the district, ‘New Alanyas’.

This year, despite the pause in July-August due to the European Football Championship and the bankruptcy of Munich-based Europe's third largest tour operator FTI, the city saw an all-time record of 2,235,311 German tourists in 8 months.
