According to the settlement map of Anatolian Civilizations, Konyaalti is located within the borders of Lycia. Lycia borders Pamphylia. The name of the city of the Lycian civilization, known to date back to 30 BC, located in the Konyaalti region is Olbia.

Modern History and Culture

It is estimated that the region called Konyaaltı today was called "Koyaltı" until the end of the 20th century due to Antalya's location on the cliffs, and that over time it became Konyaaltı in the public language. The area during the Ottoman Empire, hosted residents engaged in agriculture and fishing.

With the foundation of the Republic, there were important developments in Konyaaltı, as in other regions of Turkey. Especially with the development of tourism, the region became one of the favorite places of local and foreign tourists.

Akdeniz University was founded in Antalya in 1982. The establishment of the university significantly affected the social, cultural and economic structure of Konyaaltı and Antalya.
